The way these patterns are put together sometimes means that the design doesn't look anything like it should do until it's finished, due to the layers of thread and different shaped and colours that need to coincide. Because the pattern was derived from the original image you can rest assured that it looks perfect at the end.

The only interruption in the process comes when the colour of threads or the strength of needles need to be changed by a human, rather than by the machine itself. As a result, customers usually have to wait between one and two days for their designs to be sewn on from when their image reached the embroidery company's manufacturer. Each design only needs to be digitised once because it gets stored on the memories of both the sewing machine and the computer, making multiple copies of one design very easy to process. As a result, the time taken to embroider the same image on a whole boxful of garments is considerably less than it is for even just half a box of different designs.

My Tribute To Norman Mailer

It's so saddening that Normal Mailer had died already. I found out about it just last Saturday, when I opened my computer for updates. He died at the age of 84, and he was one of my heroes. I decided not to not to use my computer up until the next day. I thought that all my heroes are leaving, one after another.

I admit that there are many issues that the both of us didn't agree on, but it doesn't matter anymore. He was one of those very few people, who would fearlessly write on what they believed in.

The rest of my Saturday was spent trying to reminisce on the good things Norman had done. I could still remember the first book he published in 1948, which was entitled The Naked and the Dead. I read it when I was still 16. It was in the year 1969.

From then on, I read almost everything he wrote, and if he was going to be on TV, I always watched. He never failed to be interesting, and to have an idea, something most people who write and are ontelevision never have.

I last saw him on Charlie Rose, and somebody else's show I cant remember. He was a little hard of hearing, but his spirit was high, and his time was just too damn short.

I am one of the people who disapproved of his politics, but I learned to forgive him eventually. The liberals were just too different compared to Norman Mailer. He stood firm for his beliefs.

There were also instances when Mailer was savaged by the New York publications and critics. But he didn't care two hoots in hell. They just kept writing and speaking against him.

I enjoyed Norman Mailer's last masterpiece entitled The Castle in the Forest, it was even rumoured that he was planning to work on a trilogy on Hitler.

When I heard that on Charlie Rose I was excited.

The disappointment I felt on Saturday was crushing. No trilogy. Another hero gone.

By Sunday, I got better. Norman Mailer was one of those few people that would defend the right to protect yourself. He had known enough about the idiot people in his chosen party. I guess he couldn't build up any respect for any of them. Norman Mailer knew all along that they had no courage to fight at all.

He knew about this because he could always place himself on the line all the time.

Norman Mailer was a real man, and a brave one, too.

Heaven is probably a better place than it ever was before. With Norman Mailer around, dialogue would even become even better.

If there's somebody who could just keep God on his toes, then the perfect man for that job would be no other than Norman Mailer.

How Can I Achieve Shadows In Still Life Drawings?...

Where to start on this subject? A beginner would probably ponder on this question! Basically you are better to spend time sorting out the shadows in your picture first. These are a significant part of your picture. Deal with the main objects afterwards.

Shadows can make your drawing, so they are vital to your work. To readily achieve these results you will require the following items. An eraser, your pencils, of course, a sheet of cartridge paper and some mounting board.

The board is needed to create a backdrop for your work. It needs to be large enough to take in the shadows for your work. So now you need to set up your backdrop.

Your mounting board is up and your objects need to be put in position in front of it. So what to choose? Well it could be something simple, like eggs in a bowl, or a string of onions. All you need then is a small lamp to throw shadows, say from the right side.

A bit more help is needed here. With a 2B pencil you need to draw three inch squares on your backdrop. When you have done this, you do exactly the same on your cartridge paper, only with smaller one and a half inch squares and only with a light touch.

Have a good look on your screen before you put pencil to paper. Observe how the shadows fall. Easily seen, as they will be dark.

At this stage I would concentrate on the shadows, before doing the main subjects. For me, the objects are the negative, less important part, with the shadows being the important part.

Shadows will make your picture and bring it to life. You need to draw in your shadow outlines with a 2B pencil. Take a look at how the outline will cross your boxes and then draw this on your paper.

Do not get upset if your representation is slightly different. Just beaver on, filling in your shadow outline. How it can convert the look of your work can be unbelievable!

With all shadow lines filled in, it is possible now to erase some of your boxes that contain your shadows. Then, only with a light touch, you can erase some of these boxes, being careful not to spoil your surface as you go.

The dark shadows now have to be filled in, often you will have white spaces in between, but this is nothing to worry about. You have to exercise caution here, as it is all too easy to smudge your work doing this. Use a piece of white paper under your hand to remedy this.

Get out your 6B pencil, you are now going to put it to work cross hatching. That is, you are going to do your filling in, with rows of straight lines across, then straight lines on an angle or upright down over it, quite close together. This is to fill in your shadows.

Outline the back objects with a 2B pencil. Slowly complete the outlines of all your objects. Just make sure your pencil is sharp. Now it is possible to rub out your boxes with objects inside. What you are left with, is both positive and negative shapes.

Continue now by light hatching the dark areas of your objects with your 2B pencil. Do the edges for instance. Do not do too much.

You can finish your drawing with the 2B pencil with light hatching. You do not want to overdo it and get mixed up with your shadowed work. Remember, you need lighter tones in your work.

How Artists Achieve Shadows In Still Life Drawings!

People who are new to still life probably place their emphasis on drawing the main objects. This is not really probably the best line to take, as normally the shadows are what will enhance your drawing.

The shadows you create for your work are always interesting and complement the objects. You do not really need many items for your still life. Pencils, rubber, some mounting board and a sheet of cartridge paper.

A backdrop for your work is needed and the board will have to be big enough to hold the shadows you wish to transfer to your paper.

Place your objects in front of it. Now, for example, it could be a bowl of fruit, a bottle of wine with a glass, or even a coffee cup with the jug. What you can really do with now, is a spot lamp to cast shadows say from the right side.

What you need to do then to help you, is to create box squares, a bit like graph squares. These need to be about three inches square and drawn on to the backdrop. You then need to do the same thing on the cartridge paper, only very lightly, and the boxes need to be half the size, one and a half inches using a 2B pencil.

Check how the shadows actually fall on the screen. This is easy to see, as they will be dark. However, you need to do this before you start drawing.

Filling in the dark shadows now is your next step. At this stage you could smudge your picture inadvertently, so I would have my hand on a piece of paper whilst doing this. You may have a few white gaps in between the dark areas, this is alright.

To fill in shadows you need to do it by cross hatching quite closely with a 6B pencil. Draw straight lines across, then draw straight lines down. It doesn't matter if the down strokes are on a slant. Don't just fill in by scribbling in madly.

Fill in all your outlines of your back objects, slowly using a 2B pencil, making sure that it is sharp. Then rub out your boxes with objects inside. Now you have both positive and negative shapes.

Still using the 2B pencil, on the darker parts of your objects, do some light cross hatching. Do not try to hard, try it on the edges for example.

We are now at the finishing stage with your 2B pencil! Light hatch your drawing, but whatever you do, watch that you do not get entangled with your shadows. On a final note let me remind you, that you do need some of the lighter tones in your work.

Most people who are having large numbers of clothing garments embroidered (from fancy dress costumes for fun nights out to promotional uniforms) are interested to find out how the magic actually happens. Embroidery techniques may have advanced to the stages of digitalisation, but computers can't simply do all the work.

To have an image embroidered onto clothing it must first be digitized. What this means is that the image must be scanned on to a computer using CAD (Computer Aided Design) or CAM (Computer Aided Manufacture) technology and then put into a format that the computer can read. Because different image have different numbers of pixels and different sizes, sometimes when they are digitized the image becomes 'skewed' and doesn't come out looking the same as it did in the original picture. As a result a human is needed to look over each image and ensure that it looks the same as the original, before it is embroidered on to the fabric for the customer. If this isn't done then hundreds of designs could be sewn onto fabric looking terrible and in some cases unrecognisable, not only meaning that the customers don't get their products but also that thread and employee time are wasted.

So, once an image has been checked by a human to see if it has been digitized correctly it can be sent to the sewing machine for embroidering. If it has come out skewed then the person will have to manually adjust the image so that it looks the same as the one sent by the customer. The sewing machine reads the pattern which the computer has worked out for the image. When it's being embroidered sometimes the image doesn't look anything like the finished one right up until the end as different layers of colour and thread need to be sewn at different times. Each different colour and shape comes together at the end.

The only interruption in the process comes when the colour of threads or the strength of needles need to be changed by a human, rather than by the machine itself. As a result, customers usually have to wait between one and two days for their designs to be sewn on from when their image reached the embroidery company's manufacturer. Each design only needs to be digitised once because it gets stored on the memories of both the sewing machine and the computer, making multiple copies of one design very easy to process. As a result, the time taken to embroider the same image on a whole boxful of garments is considerably less than it is for even just half a box of different designs.

In Narnia, 1,300 years have passed since they were Kings and Queens, but they now return to rescue Narnia from an evil fate. WALL-E: This film is an animation comedy. Mankind has left Earth, since it had become a pile of rubbish. Wall-E, a trash collecting robot, is assigned to clean up the planet. When Eve, another robot, arrives looking to see if the planet can sustain any life, Walle-E has a friend. Eventually, when Eve is recovered by the craft that sent her, Wall-E stows away, and thus starts the adventure of his robot life.

BOLT: Bolt: This film is an animated comedy. The star is dog actor Bolt, who in his role on television, has superpowers. The thing about Bolt is that he honestly believes he has superpowers. When he is accidentally put into a real life situation, he realizes that he is only a normal dog. Needing to find his way home, he finds help, in the form of Rhino and Mittens, his newly found hamster and cat friends.

WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS: I guess it was a typical night out in Vegas. Joy and Jack, who had just met, get up the next day and find out that they are married. After winning a huge jackpot, each thinks they deserve the prize, so they ask a judge for a decision. The judge decides that for the next few months they must stay together, and try to make their marriage work. With lots of money at stake, they each try to get the other to give up, as both desire to wind up with all the money.

TWENTY ONE: This movie tells the true story of young college kids who built a team of blackjack winners. This team of blackjack players planned, trained, and executed an assault on the casinos. To play in Las Vegas, where players can be banned for winning with card counting skills, they devised signals, disguises, and even fake drivers licenses, to keep from being banned. This movie is based on the best selling book that tells how the M.I.T. teams made millions playing blackjack.

THE DARK KNIGHT: This time Batman, and Lt. Gordon and D.A. Harvey Dent, are on a mission to clean up Gotham City. This has effectively reduced crime, that is until the Joker shows up, and things get a lot worse. Batman is in a battle now, as the Joker has unleashed his criminal insanity on Gotham City.

Shorts, cracks, loose wires, broken parts, and general wear are common problems with resistance type pedals.

An electronic foot pedal uses a circuit board with resistors, capacitors, and integrated circuits to control the flow of electricity to the sewing machine. Failures of these pedals result from electrical surges, shorts, and general degradation of the electrical components. Problems with connective cords can also be problems.

An air pressure foot pedal is basically a ballast that pumps air to an air sensitive switch inside the sewing machine. If the ballast springs a leak, the pedal will fail to perform properly. Leaks in the connective line can also make the foot control useless.

When the foot control fails to work, you should first check to make sure the machine is plugged in, turned on, electrical connections are in tact, and electricity if flowing properly.

How do you fix The Sewing Machine foot pedal?

Begin by identifying the source of the problem. Check out the pedal to determine its type and inspect it for the most obvious signs of fault.

Press down on your foot pedal and listen for any popping, crackling, or other unusual sound. Gently shake the foot pedal and listen for any rattling.

Sounds inside your foot pedal are not a good sign. You may hear a hum, buzz, crackle, pop, or other sound. These are obvious signs that something is wrong inside your foot pedal. If there is no sound and still have no action when you press down on the foot control, there is some type of electrical breakdown.

Remove the foot control from the sewing machine and open the foot control. Resistance and electronic foot pedal open by sliding the back off or remove a few screws. Pressure based foot pedal do not usually open up.

Now you need a tester. There are a few different types that will work. A TVOM, Continuity Tester, Circuit Tester, or Resistance Testeris now needed. Set the tester to test Resistance in Ohms. Place one probe on one wire going to the sewing machine pedal. Place the other probe on the other wire going to my sewing machine pedal. When I press down on the sewing machine pedal, what happens on the meter?

If there is no needle action, I have a broken circuit either in my wire or in my sewing machine pedal.

The Musette Accordion: A French Popular Musical Tradition

There are many different accounts on how the sheng made its way to Europe and there are many conflicting versions of the history and evolution of accordion. it's well-known that the popularity of accordion music reached its peak in France before it spread to the rest of the world.

The subject of this article is Musette accordion, the accordion music that was almost synonymous with popular French music for at least fifty years, from the early 1900s throughout the 1950s.

A goatskin bagpipe known as Musette was a very popular musical instrument in the Auvergne region of France around the 19th century. Immigrants arriving in Paris between 1800 and 1900 had their musettes in tow. Eventually, modest dance halls in the back rooms of these modest cafes,and some Auvergnat immigrants opened small shops selling coal and wine. These came to be known as bal musettes. On Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons, their patrons danced the traditional Auvergnat dance to the music of the musette.

During the latter part of the 19th century, Italian immigrant workers toting their accordions began flooding the capital of France. Paris 19th district where the Italians settled came alive with the sound of diatonic accordion music. At first, accordions were accepted into most musette music bands. Where the auvergnat and italian communities of paris gathered to dance to accordion and musette music and the bal musettes, which had been places where the musette instrument was played, had become establishments. The first joint musette and accordion music performance was in 1905.

However, with the appearance of the half-diatonic, half-chromatic accordion, the Italian accordionists tried to introduce new dances into the bal musettes, playing music that was outside of the realm of the musette,a few years later. This led to a serious difference which was further aggravated with the appearance of the chromatic accordion.

The Italians left to play their accordions in different locations - which they continued to call bal musettes. The accordion was the principal instrument, accompanied by drums and the main dance was the waltz,at these new bal musettes. Accordion music as well as the new bal musettes became popular quickly. The accordionists were playing in the streets and their music became popular very soon in Paris and throughout the country. Accordions had become the preferred accompanying instrument of French singers as well " and the musette accordion style, or music genre, was born.

The bal musettes re-opened with fervor after World War I, and musette accordion music continued to flourish in the period between the two World Wars. Many new bal musettes opened to cater to the masses in need of entertainment, and members of the upper classes would go to these places looking for adventure. Before the Second World War, certain enterprising dance establishments even organized fake police raids and gunshots for the benefit of these classy visitors.

The musette instrument has gained popularity over the musette accordion genre. In the 1930s, jazz penetrated into the musette accordion style and by the 1940s, it was common to hear the 2 styles intermixed. By the early 1950s, after the Manouche banjoists and guitarists had joined the musette accordion bands, accordion musette music had become the most popular French music of its day.

To a decline of the musette accordion style led the advent of rock, disco and newer dance music in the 1960s. However, in the late 1980s and 1990s, popular music groups began to show interest in the musette accordion music and this inspiring music genre is experiencing a revival both in France and across the world.

The Academy Awards has been around since 1929 when the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science started it. How do we know which paper to buy, faced with so many different types? Starting with watercolours, really you have three main sorts of paper. "HP" which is "Hot Pressed", "Not" otherwise known as "Cold Pressed" and "Rough".

If, all this is new to you I would recommend "Not". Simply because it is a smooth paper, not really textured, as when it is made, it is pressed through rollers that are cold.

If you have small detailed work, a textured paper really is what you need. "HP" would be my choice as it is nice and smooth as it has been pressed through hot rollers, like an iron in fact. Washes do not hold very well on this, so I wouldn't even try to do one.

Rough is a very well textured paper which can be very effective as the paint does not always reach the raised surface. Probably not good for a beginner to use though.

Many artists like to stretch their own paper, though if you are a novice, wrinkling could be a problem. You will find that if the paper is wet, it really does stretch, but not necessarily so that it will be even all four ways.

Therefore, if you stretch your own paper, before you start, this will eliminate the problem. For this you will require scissors, a bowl of water, a natural sponge and some gummed brown paper on the roll.

So, first look at your paper and cut four pieces off the gummed paper larger than the sides of the paper to be stretched. You then need to wet your paper using a small sponge or, if it is small, soak the sponge in water.

On a flat surface you need to start to flatten it out to get your smooth surface with the side of your hand. You need to start from the centre and move outwards. After this, tape all four sides down with your gummed strips.

Probably you will be thinking to yourself it still looks wrinkly, but have a little patience. Let it dry, and I do mean naturally, and it should dry flat. So now you have your support (this is what we call the stretched paper). Ideal paper for watercolours.

The support used is very important for your work. You will find this out, for instance, when you see whether your brush moves well over it, if the paint works well on it and also if it remains on the surface.

You might say it helps to give the look of the completed work. Watercolour happens to be transparent, so it can be difficult to use. If you have white paper, it is always the light part of your painting. With watercolours you cannot help, but be aware of the support.

Paper comes in different grades by weight. If the paper is heavy it will take water well, whereas if it is light, it will wrinkle and get distorted. Heavy papers are a joy to work with, but are expensive.

Watercolour paper you can buy by the sheet or on pads. Pads are handy when they are spiral bound. They sometimes come in what is like a paperback book, which is termed as perfect band. Some pads do not need stretching at all as they have already been glued all the way round.

Of course, if you are one of these people, I wholeheartedly support your notion of selling the things that you love doing. However, you must make sure that once you have a booth, you are able to attract many potential customers. Below are some tips that I've learned from knowing some of the "fair regulars":

*An appealing booth attracts customers: Even if you have absolutely spectacular craftworks, having them on a drab booth or stall will certainly not attract any buyers. You're selling your art, not fish in a market stall. Something as simple as a colorful cloth over a table or a banner will help. If you're selling food, you certainly shouldn't have your booth next to a dumpster. And make sure to keep your area clean.

*Talk, not intimidate: Basically, your crafts will not sell themselves. Make it an effort to go around your booth and talk to potential customers about your creations. Tell them why they're special, but remember to not ply them with too much information. Be casual! If you notice someone having doubts, try offering them a similar items they might be interested in.

Be prepared for weather changes: Florida may be the Sunshine State, but it also receives it's fair share of rainfall. If you've been in Florida long enough, you'll know how hard it is to predict the weather. Have a thick plastic sheet all ready to be thrown over your wares in the even of rain and have heavy objects such as rocks nearby so they don't fly away. Of course, remember to bring an umbrella for yourself, as well.

Last, remember to not overdo it: Don't cram so much stuff on your booth that your crafts aren't noticeable. Talk, but not so much as to forget to listen to your customer. And don't bring so much anti-rain equipment , you forego bringing your own crafts.

2. The body. This is that pretty colored, shaped part that is just under your right hand. This is the largest part of the instrument and controls the sound of the instrument. Usually made of some type of wood but sometimes other materials are employed.

3. The pick ups or sound hole. On an acoustic guitar, there will be a sound hole under the strings in the center of the body. On an electric guitar, there will be between one and three electronic pickups there (no hole). Both of these have the same function, which is to transfer sound and make what you play audible.

4. The neck. This is sticking out to your left there and is about 2 ? feet long. Necks are made of different types of materials. Most common are rosewood and basswood. Higher quality guitars can use mahogany here.

5. The frets. These are the little metal bars running across the neck. The nearer they are to the body, the closer they are together. These make the different tones possible and your fingers will be placed just behind them.

6. The nut. This is where the neck joins the headstock. It is a hard nylon and has grooves that act as guides for the strings.

7. The headstock and tuning keys. This is the uppermost part of the guitar and has the tuning keys attached to it. The strings will be held by the tailpiece and then threaded through the tuning keys and pulled tight to be tuned. The tuning keys can be anything from plastic to gold.

Marisa Tomei is 100% amazing. That is perfectly obvious to anyone with eyes in their head. As hard as it is to not care about anything except Marisas hot body and exotic face, you have to realize that there is a lot more going on with her than just that. In the United States alone, the figures state around 35 million are infected with nail fungus. Treating Nail Fungus is possible, but most treatments may take some time as well as a regular schedule.

Before anything else, one has to know how does a nail fungus thrive and where one can get this infection. Toe nail fungi thrive in a warm, moist environment and they do not need sunlight in order to live. The space under the nails is one of their favorite places to breed in, since this has the requirements that they need to live and multiply. One can contract this fungus in public baths, swimming pools, gyms and even at home. So one has to take preventive measures in order to avoid nail fungus.

A person having nail fungus will find his nails quite unsightly as well as odorous. It is also an embarrassing sight to deal with, especially if one is in a public place. It one does not act on it, it will cause more damage to the toe, making walking a painful ordeal. One may have to resort to surgical removal to correct this. There are medicines that are available for treating nail fungus. Examples are:

2. Zetaclear - One can also opt to get this in all-natural products such as zetaclear which not only contains the above mentioned ingredients, but also more. It also has jojoba oil as well as clove oil as its key ingredients, which are also proven to be effective in treating nail fungus. These natural medications can speed up the curing process.

3. Vinegar - Home remedies such as soaking in Listerine or vinegar have some positive effects on the infected nails. But these are 50-50 chances of effectiveness.

Prevention - It is also important to take preventive steps so that the fungi will not spread and get any worse. Wearing breathable, good-fitting shoes, absorbent socks are good practices to be maintained. Avoiding walking barefoot in public places is also needed. One it is contained, it will be easier job in treating nail fungus.
